Chakma Rock Band based in Rajbari, Rangamati Hill Tracts, Bangladesh.
Genkhuli © started in 1971 in an independent Bangladesh. Its roots go back to the origins of Chakma Folk Music. The word “Genkhuli” means the Chakma Folk Music Bard who plays a “bela” (violin) and talk-sings in Chakma language about history, language, culture, war and other topics in the unique Genkhuli tone and performance.
Kumar Samit Roy was the most prolific Songwriter of this band and passed away in 2010. Rupayan Dewan Ranga is Vocalist and Keyboardist as well as Songwriter. Sujan Dewan Guring is the Rhythm Guitarist and Drummer as well as Vocalist additionally being a Songwriter.
Chandan Roy is the Bassist and Vocalist. Mani Swapan Dewan is on Harmonica and Vocals. Raja Devasish Roy is Vocalist, Guitarist and Harmonica player. Uttam Dewan Mani is Vocalist, Guitarist and Keyboardist.
Bitu Chakma is Drummer as well as in charge of Sound Manager. There are many other members and past members as well as part time members of this legendary Chakma Rock Band.
